Renee Valenti lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She is originally from New Haven, CT. Her studio practice consists mostly of painting and photography. Her paintings move between dark surreal figures staged from photos of friends and self portraits, and abstract works that draw from body, human interaction, and connection. Her recent photos are images of forgotten landscape in America and hotel rooms that investigate the comfort within transient places devoid of personal memory. She graduated from School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s low-residency MFA program in 2016. Most recently, her work has been shown at The Amarillo Museum of Art and this year at The Whitney Biennial working with Occupy Museums.
